Davao City—The Makilala Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) actively participated in the Public Consultation on the proposed Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order (CMO) on the Policies and Guidelines Against All Forms of Hazing, held on January 19–20, 2026, at Dusit Thani Hotel, Davao City. MIST was represented by Ms. Annalejune Nedamo, MAEd, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), who joined higher education leaders, administrators, and key stakeholders from various institutions across the region. The consultation focused on strengthening institutional policies that ensure student safety and well-being, particularly among higher education institution–based fraternities, sororities, and other student organizations.

The activity served as a platform for gathering insights, recommendations, and collective perspectives from the higher education sector to further refine the proposed CMO. It emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of respect, safety, and accountability while maintaining a firm stance against hazing in all its forms.

MIST’s participation reflects the institution’s commitment to safeguarding student welfare, promoting responsible leadership, and supporting national initiatives that uphold students’ rights and well-being within and beyond the campus.
